Traffic Case Records in Union County
One Union County traffic ticket can live in three separate places. Each shows something different. The court case and its Chronological Case Summary, the CCS, list what has been filed and where the case stands. Indiana ePay gives you ticket details. It shows any balance due, plus a yes or no on paying online. The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles keeps the driver record and current driving-privilege status. Each view answers a different question. Don't treat them as one file, because no single office holds all three.
Union Circuit Court is the county's only court of record. Liberty has no municipal court. Neither does West College Corner, per the current state directory and Odyssey list. So check the venue printed on your citation. If it names Union Circuit Court, the Union County Clerk handles the docket. It files under county court identifier 81C01. An odd ordinance ticket might point somewhere else. Confirm the venue before you send any payment.
Union ePay Search Modes
The official Indiana ePay portal offers three search modes for a Union County traffic ticket. It comes with a warning worth heeding. Some tickets never show up online. Some that do cannot be paid that way. Keep license numbers and birth dates private when you search, and never store another person's details in public notes.
| Search mode | Required fields | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Uniform Traffic Ticket | UTT or citation number | Best first route when the printed citation is available |
| Driver License # | Driver license number | Returns associated tickets when the portal permits |
| Name & Date of Birth | First, last, DOB in MM/DD/YYYY | Identity fallback; middle name or initial is optional |
A successful result can return quite a bit: identifying fields, ticket date, police agency, court, case number, offense date and description, current balance, payment eligibility, and a ticket-copy option. If the screen says "case information unavailable," don't stop there. The Union County Clerk is the next official source for that docket.
Union County Traffic Ticket Lookups
Start with the ticket itself. Type the UTT or citation number exactly as printed. Switch to a permitted alternate mode if nothing comes back. You can also search Indiana MyCase by citation or case number. MyCase sometimes returns the full CCS even when ePay will not take a payment. That makes it a useful second stop in any Union County docket search.
- Read the named court, citation number, case number, and appearance or due date.
- Search ePay by UTT number; use another permitted mode only if needed.
- Review the court, offense, case number, returned balance, and payment status.
- Search MyCase for the CCS and public court events.
- Call the Union County Clerk at 765-458-6121 if the item is missing, blocked, or unclear.
- Use the Clerk's courthouse counter for official copies or an in-person response.
The Clerk publishes email and fax contacts, and mail may work once you confirm the instructions. Union County offers no local ticket portal and no payment drop box of its own. A state Court Calendar is one more way to check hearing dates, though Union County does not appear among its participating courts.
Electronic Citations Reach the Court
Indiana runs a traffic citation technology program that moves ticket data into the court system electronically. Less manual entry is the upside. Not every citation turns up instantly. Not every one is instantly payable online, either. Filing, court assignment, and portal processing can each add a gap. So a brand-new ticket may not show up right away.
If your fresh ticket does not appear, hold onto the citation. Follow the printed date. Waiting on a website result past an appearance or payment deadline is a mistake. The Union County Clerk or Circuit Court can tell you whether the citation arrived. They can also confirm whether a court case number has been assigned.
Traffic Court Dates in Union County
The hearing or appear-by date printed on the citation controls unless the court changes it. ePay can return ticket facts, and MyCase may show a setting in the CCS. Indiana also keeps a Public Court Calendar, but participation is voluntary and Union County is absent from it. An empty calendar does not mean a canceled setting.
| Citation number | The UTT identifier printed on the ticket and used in ePay. |
|---|---|
| Case number | The court identifier, such as illustrative 81C01-2608-IF-000001. |
| Court | Confirm Union Circuit Court or another venue printed on the citation. |
| Date and time | Use the citation or current court confirmation, not a general estimate. |
| Setting type | May describe an initial appearance, hearing, trial, or other event. |
| Status | A setting can move; check the CCS and contact the Clerk close to the date. |
Need a continuance, current due date, or contest instructions? Call the Clerk or Union Circuit Court at 765-458-5934. For the bigger picture, the Union County court schedule breaks down how settings, resets, and calendar participation differ.
Paying a Ticket vs Fighting It
Not every ticket can be settled online. ePay only shows the payment option when the item qualifies, and when it does, the portal may present an Admit Plea or a Nolo Contendere (no contest) choice. Before the payment goes through, the user must agree to a statement spelling out the stakes. Paying counts as an admission or no-contest plea. It carries the effect of a judgment. And it waives rights, including the right to a trial. That is real weight. Anyone who wants to fight the charge should reach the Clerk or the Union County court before paying a dime.
| Pay an eligible ticket | Contest or ask about options |
|---|---|
| Confirm the right person, court, case, and offense | Do not submit a plea or payment first |
| Read the plea and waiver statement | Contact the Clerk about appearance and contest steps |
| Review the returned balance and dynamic service fee | Ask whether a hearing is set and what filing is required |
| Keep the payment confirmation | Appear as directed unless the court confirms a change |
Deferral labels can show up dynamically in the results. You might see three-month, six-month, twelve-month, equipment, dual-equipment, or other program types, depending on the ticket and the court handling it. No Union-specific deferral promise applies here, so confirm eligibility from the live result or straight from the court before counting on it.
Failure to appear matters. Indiana BMV states that failure to appear on a citation or failure to pay after judgment may lead to suspension of driving privileges. Follow the ticket date and obtain court confirmation.
Union Failure-to-Appear Follow-Up
After a missed court date, two things matter: the license and the debt. The Indiana BMV traffic-violations page lays out the reinstatement path. It can require court notice of appearance or payment, sometimes an SR22, and then completion of the suspension itself. For current license status, the BMV driver record is the official word. The Clerk can confirm the court's compliance event. That office can also say whether notice went out. A tax-refund-garnishment letter works differently. Per Indiana Courts, it starts its own 30-day payment clock, and unpaid tickets can pick up a 10 percent Department of Revenue processing fee under IC 6-8.1-9.5. That letter never replaces the original ticket deadline. It does not replace the court's CCS either.
Two Records: Court and Driver File
Two separate files, two separate answers. The court file tells the story of the case itself, while the BMV file speaks to the driver's present licensing question. A payment confirmation from the court does not prove the BMV has processed a notice, and the driver record will not reproduce the court pleadings or the full CCS. Check each record for what it actually covers.
| Question | Official source |
|---|---|
| Was the citation filed, and what is the case number? | MyCase, ePay, or Union County Clerk |
| What plea, judgment, or disposition was entered? | CCS, Clerk, or certified court record |
| Can the ticket be paid online, and what balance is returned? | Indiana ePay |
| Is a license suspended or reinstated? | Indiana BMV driver record or status |
| Is a ticket image available? | ePay Copy of Ticket or the Clerk |
Do not read payment eligibility as a final result. The court record settles what happened to the case. License status is a separate matter, and the BMV answers it when that status matters to resolving the traffic ticket.
Union Traffic Record Copy Fees
ePay sometimes lists a Copy of Ticket for $1.00. Treat that image as a convenience. It is not a certified full case file, not proof of payment, and not proof of disposition. The Clerk charges $1.00 per legal or letter page for a plain copy, with a partial page counted as a full one, and a certificate under seal adds $1.00.
| Record or service | Published amount |
|---|---|
| ePay Copy of Ticket, when offered | $1.00 |
| Clerk court-record copy | $1.00 per page |
| Certificate under seal | $1.00 |
| Online payment processing | Dynamic; review before confirming |
Before ordering, ask the Clerk about payment methods, postage, and certification. Fees and rules shift. A certified traffic disposition may call for a specific order or a CCS instead of the ticket image, so confirm what the receiving office says it needs.
Union Traffic Access Fallbacks
When ePay comes up empty, work down the list in order: MyCase, a phone call to the Clerk, the published email or fax contact, the courthouse counter, and mail only after instructions are confirmed. Hearing dates deserve a comparison of the citation and the CCS, followed by a question to the Clerk. A certified record comes straight from the Clerk. Current license consequences belong to the BMV. This order matters in a small county. Union has no municipal ticket portal. No participating public calendar court appears among its listings. A missing result can reflect portal coverage, timing, number format, restricted access, or another venue, so verify rather than assume the citation vanished. Keep the paper citation and any screenshots of official results. Keep payment confirmation with the case number too. When you reach staff, ask what the court record currently shows and what next act is due. That one focused question beats asking whether the portal is right.
Union County Citation Number Checks
A citation number and a court case number do different jobs. The UTT number sits on the ticket and serves as the direct ePay key. Once filed, the case receives an Indiana uniform number. That number encodes county, court, year, month, case type, and sequence. Hold onto both. One portal may recognize the ticket before the other shows the court case. MyCase tolerates dropped hyphens and leading zeros, but enter only one Case-tab identifier at a time. If a number still fails, do not guess at a different court. Compare the paper. Check whether the citation is recent. Ask the Clerk whether it has transferred into Union Circuit Court.
Union County Payment Confirmation
After an eligible online payment, save the confirmation. Match it against the case number and ticket. Later, check the CCS. Or ask the Clerk whether the court posted the payment and disposition. Processing time can separate a payment receipt from a later court entry or BMV notice. Does the amount differ from an older screen or paper notice? Stop and verify the current balance. MyCase warns that public financial data may omit current interest or every charge. The Clerk controls the official court balance. Raise any payment error or missing posting through the official payment and Clerk channels.
Union Traffic Source Screens
Indiana's traffic citation technology page shows electronic transfer into court systems.

It does not promise that every Union ticket appears at once. The ticket garnishment page lays out payment routes for that separate collection setting.

That letter's deadline never wipes out the court date printed on the citation, and the Indiana BMV violations page spells out what happens when drivers ignore it.

The court handles the case; the BMV verifies current driving status.
